kids. kids. kids.

last saturday i spent the afternoon with cutie pies,
(cory's nephew and niece)
croix & lyric:

we (they) started out by swimming in a pool i could have only dreamed of having as a kid.
at only six and four years old, these two are little fish.
for lyric's first jump in the water, she decided to do so onto a gigantic beach ball, right off the diving board.
(a disaster waiting to happen)

as they jumped off the diving board, i snapped pictures. not only did they do flips and dives...

croix showed me "the surfer", which i learned, looks like this:
(sweet)

and "the monkey", "the chicken", the classic "cannon ball":

and even a side dive.

holy. crap. kids have a lot of energy.

they continued to play in the pool, splashing as much as possible, of course.
croix decided to pull out Hermie, the automatic pool cleaner that roams around at the bottom, spraying water from the hose part everywhere. needless to say, he got a bit of a scolding from his grandma for that one. then we drug out the sunbathing mats. they demonstrated to me how the mats can also be used as mini slip 'n slides in to the pool. pretty sure it wouldn't have worked had i tried it. they did that for awhile and then moved on to a water fight with some sort of "noodle" water gun thing
(you know — "noodles"):

we took a break from water activities for pizza during which i was reminded of the straightforwardness of a child..

lyric blatantly asked "are you going to marry cory??"
(in the presence of not only me, but cory's mom and brother..)

awesome.

and then,

"if you marry cory, you will be my aunt!"
(yep.)

then croix chimed in,

"if you marry cory, you would be my grandma!"
and
"if you were one-hundred, you would be a grandma."

(i am pretty sure he was only correct on the second statement.)

when croix couldn't remember my name, he would say "hey lady!" to get my attention when he wanted to show me something. lady? i let him know he could call me girl instead of lady. :) i think he just remembers my name now, so no need for lady OR girl.

after some more swimming, we got the kiddos into some clothes and brushed their hair for some priceless photos:

plus many many more. i think i heard
"take one like this!!"
(as they posed)
about 77 times.
croix kept wanting photos of him up on the monkey bars:

later they gave me a mini heart attack by doing this:

needless to say, they were cute, funny, typical little kids all afternoon.
oh, and did i mention that croix looks identical to his uncle cory??
