And I was sober.

dork of the weekend award goes to me.
On Saturday night I went to the grocery store. As I was walking down an aisle I noticed that one shoe felt bigger than the other and just a little weird, as if one foot was swollen or something. Oh no, one foot was not swollen, it definitely was the "or something". I looked down at my feet and, much to my surprise, saw one green shoe and one black shoe.

sushi.
The first time I had sushi was only five months ago. Little did I know I would soon be craving it nearly every single day. I still don't know a whole lot about it and only have a few favorites that I usually pick, but it's still delicious nonetheless. Instead of going out for sushi or buying it already made yet again, we decided we'd test our ability at making it from scratch. (Well, of course we bought one pre-made pack of California Rolls just in case..!) We purchased a kit that included everything but the fish, for $31. A fillet of salmon, swordfish, and tuna later, we were set for sushi-making! It's somewhat of a process... washing and cooking the rice, and cutting up the avocado, cucumber, and fish into thin slices takes the longest. After that it was super easy. The first round we did wrong so the roll was extra big (notice in the photo).. okay, the mistake was my fault.. But the rest turned out perfect and tasted just like it was from a sushi bar! We had tons of rice and fish left so will be making more this evening which is fine with me because by 6 pm I'll probably be craving it yet again. :) Yuummmmmmaaaayyyyyy!!!

the way i think.
Do you ever imagine an image of one year in your head? This is very random, but I always find myself thinking this. When I think of a year, I don't typically think of a calendar. I think of a circle.. sort of like a clock. December being 12:00 (obviously now that I put it like that... the 12th month) and so on... Interesting.

day dreamin'

If I could be anywhere in the world right now, Tahiti would be it. Just look at the place — it's beautiful. Absolutely perfect. Exactly what my mind dreams of when I think of my ultimate dream destination. Someday I will go there. Maybe it will be for my honeymoon, maybe for an anniversary, or maybe just because. But I know I will be with someone special and we will stay in one of the huts that sits up above the turquoise waters. I will wear swim suits or cute dresses every single day, shoes none other than flip flops, let my hair be as it is, and do nothing but relax, lay in the sun, drink mojitos and pina coladas while forgetting about every single other thing in my "regular" life. It will be amazing and I cannot wait for that day to arrive... Until then I will continue dreaming...

random memories.
Once in awhile random memories pop into my head and consume me if only for a moment or two... bringing a smile to my face, sometimes even a laugh out loud. Tonight as I lay in bed and drift off the sleep with my memories, I wanted to jot some down...
Riding our bikes to the grocery store to buy stuff for dinner.. I always wanted to stock up on yogurt and whatever else we needed while we were there, but soon realized we only had a small back pack to hold it all! The yogurt usually had to wait for the next trip...
The time in Jamaica on our way to Dunn's River Falls in the bus.. my best friend and I thought we would take pictures with our heads out the window. At the time nothing could have been funnier to us. The reflection of our heads in the window made it look like we had two and for some reason it. was. hilarious. :)
Seeing four of the cutest, tiniest, sweetest little vizslas run out of a kennel that was in the back of a truck, towards me. I knew the moment I saw them that I wasn't leaving without one in my arms.
The last 100 meters of the mile run at a track meet that would determine if you advance to districts. I passed the teammate that beat me in every other race (her legs were longer people!), got 4th place (which wasn't good enough to advance), however ran the fastest mile in my life... six minutes flat.
The road trip out to Montana one summer with my parents. My boyfriend came with and we rode in the back of the car the entire way.. us and about three feather pillows, a down comforter, and a laptop to watch movies! It quite possibly may have been the most comfortable road trip yet. ;)
The moment I got through customs in Australia and walked out the doors into the lobby where crowds of people were waiting for their someone to arrive, then seeing my best friend waiting for me! We were so happy and excited to see each other after such a long wait that it brought tears to my eyes when we finally got to give each other a big hug!
The phone call that I so desperately wanted that told me I was being offered a job. I happened to be driving in the middle of 494, on my way to a concert, with not a clue as to where I was going when my phone rang and I knew it must be about the job. I had to answer!
My first (and only so far) attempt at snowboarding. Lets just say it took at least an hour (maybe two?) to get down the "mountain" (ok, it was a hill.. a big hill). I had to stop about 79 times to "take a break" and regain my composure. At the very end I was going so good when my board dug into the snow sending me down to the ground at about 20 mph. Needless to say my sunglasses, hat, and whatever else was able to detach, did, as well as knock the wind out of me. Ouch.
The time I found a ring that had been given to me after not having it for a couple days. I went home every day for lunch to eat and of course watch Days with my roomies! I made myself a salad and was deep into the lame soap opera as I ate. Looking down briefly at my next forkful startled me and for a moment I felt like I was being proposed to (or something!) when I noticed the ring attached to the fork with my bite of salad. It was just plain weird and unexpected!!
More random memories to come... stand by.
